Craft Tailors is an alterations and tailoring studio on Wick Lane, Fish Island. Suits taken in, hems turned up, repairs while you wait, and plenty back the same or next day.
What we do
Menswear and womenswear, brought in from across Fish Island, Hackney Wick and Bow. If it needs taking in, letting out, shortening or mending, bring it to the studio.
Jackets taken in, sleeves shortened from the cuff with the buttonholes re-stitched, trousers hemmed and tapered for a clean line.
Coat and jacket alterations, from shoulder and sleeve adjustments to relines and a new zip when the old one gives up.
Hems taken up, legs tapered and waistbands let out or taken in, on suit trousers, chinos and jeans alike.
Boxy shirts slimmed through the body and sleeves, with collar and cuff repairs so a good shirt keeps going.
Dresses shortened and waists taken in, including occasion and graduation wear that needs to be right for the day.
Split seams, dropped hems, buttons and small fixes, many done there and then while you wait at the counter.
Priced per item and per garment, so it stays fair. Send a photo on WhatsApp and you can have a quote before you come in.
In their words
“Hemmed a pair of trousers, repaired a suit-jacket cuff and re-did a botched sleeve shortening. High standard, very reasonable time, often next day, and fair prices, cheaper than anywhere else in the area.”
“Called in to get a stitch in my partner’s trousers and they did it in 2 minutes. No hassle and very happy to help. Thanks so much guys.”
“Took my graduation dress to get the length shortened and the waist taken in. Quoted a lot more elsewhere. Done within a couple of days and communication was really good.”
“My suit was too long for me. The staff helped with pinning and gave me an idea of how it would look. Work was done super quick within 2 days. Worth it for the quality service.”
“Hanif tailored my trousers exactly how I asked and did it on the same day. Thank you so much, I’ll be back.”
How it works
No appointment needed for most jobs. Pop into the studio, or message a photo first and we will tell you what is possible.
Come to the studio on Wick Lane with the garment, or send a photo on WhatsApp and we will talk it through.
We pin it on you, agree exactly what you want and give you a fair price and a realistic time before any work starts.

The studio
Craft Tailors works out of a studio in Hart Yard on Fish Island, the pocket of makers between Hackney Wick and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It is an alterations and tailoring room, not a rail of ready-made suits.
Customers name Hanif in their reviews for the same reasons: he knows how to make a garment look its best, turns work around quickly, and keeps prices fair. From a two-minute stitch to a suit taken in for a wedding, it is the same careful hand.

Good to know
It is priced per item, because a trouser hem and a full suit adjustment are very different jobs. Prices are kept fair, and reviewers regularly say cheaper than elsewhere in the area. Send a photo on WhatsApp or pop in and you will get a clear price before any work starts.
Most alterations are ready in one to two days, and small fixes like a loose button or a quick stitch are often done the same day while you wait. If you need something for a specific date, tell us and we will let you know what is possible.
Yes. Alongside suits, shirts and trousers we take in dresses, shorten hems and handle occasion and graduation wear. Bring the garment and, if you can, the shoes or belt you will wear with it so we can pin it accurately.
No appointment is needed for most jobs. Just come to the studio during opening hours, Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm. For bigger pieces it helps to message first so we can set aside the time.

Often, yes. We regularly put right work that has been done poorly elsewhere, including sleeves shortened from the shoulder that should have been done from the cuff. Bring it in and we will tell you honestly what can be recovered.
